Our client is one of the largest auto parts distribution and marketing organizations in the world, marketing the Auto Parts sellers. With store and service center locations throughout North America and Europe, the client is a source for quality parts and service for over 4,600 parts stores and 2,500 certified service centers. Our client engaged our Liferay Developers for Hire who are working from the last four years.
Business Requirements
- The client needed a portlet to manage large documents & videos in the portal environment.
- This requirement needed cloud storage to outperform the asset operations such as copy, move, edit, delete, Generate pre-signed amazon URL.
- The major challenge was to upload big documents of sizes ranging form 1GB to 10GB without any lag or interruption.
- The client had difficulty in storing large documents & videos through application(Liferay Application).
- The client needed a solution to reduce the load on application while fetching the document or video for ‘view compatibility’.
- To access the documents or videos in cloud, the client needed a module to configure & manage permissions.
Results
Filters
- Difficulty in storing large documents was no longer a problem as we integrated ‘Amazon S3 cloud storage’. With vast collection of Amazon API possibilities, the files were uploaded without any interruption.
- We synchronized the s3 generated URL’s from Amazon to application which resulted in a robust use of view compatibility & easy fetching of cloud files. ( Generated video urls from Amazon were integrated with Liferay Application).
- Manage files efficiently in cloud
The problem with asset operations was also solved using Amazon cloud api. Designed & Implemented a module to create a list of permissions for users who can access the documents respectively based on roles. - Successfully delivered the client with a portlet which efficiently manages the files in cloud.
