SugarCRM with Joomla

Joomla, one of the best open source content management systems (CMS) and SugarCRM, the world’s leading Open Source CRM can be combined to achieve great results. We are in the process of figuring out the best generic implementation. Integration of SugarCRM with Joomla has been developed to simplify communications with partners and stakeholders. Joomla acts as the authentication and presentation layer and SugarCRM as the data store. Joomla makes the client interaction easier by letting the clients view the information they need in SugarCRM through Joomla.

Let us assume that you have clients who would like to report issues and request quotations through the user interface. So, you create an account in SugarCRM. This, in turn, creates an account and password in Joomla and emails the customer with their login details. The customer then uses his login to report an issue. This populates the cases module in SugarCRM via the SugarCRM SOAP (simple object access protocol) API (application program interface) and alerts an internal customer service rep. The service rep responds to the case and all the changes in status of the case are reflected in Joomla. The client can also see the relevant information pertaining to his issue via Joomla. This helps the client in keeping track of the resolution process and in interacting when required. The customer support also can come up with the resolution when it is available.

For another instance, let us consider a client who might want prices for standard services. He can access a quotations tool in Joomla. Again, through the SOAP API, the prices are delivered from SugarCRM Products Module. If the client wishes to place an order, the order is placed through Joomla and then transferred into SugarCRM where the progress of the order and any notes regarding the order are also made. This way, you can restrict the access and modification of data that you store in SugarCRM. Integrating SugarCRM Community Edition with Joomla enables you to capture the leads from your website and record them directly into your CRM system.
