Asterisk is a software that turns an ordinary computer into a voice communications server. Asterisk is a powerful and popular telephony development tool-kit. It is used by businesses small or large, call centers, carriers, and government services worldwide. Asterisk is an open source software and is available for free under the terms of the general public license (GPL).
The two types of Asterisk VoiceRD integration patch for SugarCRM are:

• Professional (PRO)
Once the patch is installed, it generates links or icons (optional configuration setting) for phone numbers in the accounts, contacts, and leads modules. When clicked, the Asterisk/VoiceRD Server rings the SugarCRM users’ VOIP phone .After the user picks up his phone, the Asterisk/VoiceRD server dials the number that was clicked. The OS version of the patch allows simple click-to-call capabilities.
The Professional version of VoiceRD/Asterisk integration for SugarCRM offers added features such as call logging, call recording, on-call note taking, and scheduling of follow up meetings and calls. It allows many more features through the use of a pop-up. In the pop-up, you can quickly create a note, a task, or schedule a meeting or a call. You can also get required information about the caller on the pop-up. It has a click button that can be used to generate a call log for the current call and a button to record the call.
The SugarCRM with Asterisk integration includes Asterisk installation, SugarCRM admin configuration, Asterisk admin configuration and user configuration. This integration has several advantages for the user and is beneficial for both the platforms.
