SFI was attracted to integrate Asterisk with SugarCRM for various reasons. Since the company had already using CRM open source system called SugarCRM, SFI figured that it should look towards open source Asterisk for its client management needs. Asterisk simply had the largest following, the most downloads and provided the most security from longevity of product development adding that SFI felt that the standards- based and open architecture of
SugarCRM and Asterisk integrate well.

Challenge:

1.With high volumes of customer calls, SFI needed an Asterisk solution that could be tightly integrated with their SugarCRM system.

2.The Outbound and Inbound calls should be routed from SugarCRM.

3.For any outbound and inbound a POP up should be display with the Contact and account details which is associated with him (For example: POP up window displays the Contact name, Phone number, Email, Account name)

4.Able to record the ‘Notes’ and ‘Audio’ and attach to the Contact within SugarCRM application.

5.Ability to perform the actions like Recording (Start, Pause, Stop) the Audio and Hold actions on the call.

Challenge

Right Horizons began their search for a more efficient way to handle Sales and marketing process; they wanted a robust, low-cost, and automation of Lead, Opportunities and contact management. Right Horizons gets daily around 2000 leads and lead management was becoming a bottleneck in Sales process. And the biggest challenge is migrating the data from Right Horizons custom application into vtiger without any loss of data.

Solution

Right Horizons turned to vtiger, the leading open source cost-effective alternatives that offer the same capabilities and features that are needed to manage your customer relationships and to grow the business. Right Horizons also wanted the application to be integrated with open source Business process management called ‘ProcessMaker. Right Horizons tapped KTree to study challenges for lead management, Opportunities and contact management and were studied with their internal IT team. The project was undertaken in house, with all customization done by PHP developers, after initial system was setup. It took 2 man months of effort to make the system functional according to the client requirement.

Key requirements for the technical solutions included:

a.Created two new modules developed in vtiger.

b.Menu level customization and CSS customizations

c.Created new SOAP functions from scratch for creating Products and Vendors

d.Created new actions for existing modules

e.Integration with ProcessMaker using web services (SOAP)

CHALLENGE

With its various business units and various portfolios of services, Manufacturer Company was faced with the challenge of managing a large quantity of data. The company’s intranet combined not just content but a number of disparate applications, and it relied on Proprietary portal system to do so. Over the period of few years, however, business users began to find issues with the portal and certain applications slowed the system during business hours, which made it difficult to view information in a quick and simple way. And also there was no support provided by them.

The Manufacturer Company wanted to overcome all the issues and determined to switch to software which can improve the current system. Since the Proprietary portal was tied to an enterprise suite of products, the upgrade did not appear to be a practical option as it would require the replacement of the entire suite at once, which involved huge risk and cost.

RESOLUTION

One last option was to replace the portal system. While this also involved some level of risk, with distress about stability and cost, Liferay come up as an attractive and feasible solution. As an open source product, Liferay would provide access to the source code as well as implementation resources. After much deliberation, it was decided that replacing their system with Liferay Portal would be the best alternative.

The Manufacturer Company focused on integrating the Liferay cluster system and evaluating gaps between Liferay and the previous portal system. All Portlets are installed and configured for their day to day business operation and maintenance. All users were authenticated and authorized from LDAP and also single sign on was also implemented using CAS. The Manufacturer Company wanted flexibility to switch to different themes whenever required KTree, customized the Liferay to provide functionality to change themes and adherence to open standards allowed the company to update the back-end with least distraction to user experience. The Manufacturer Company are now getting the benefits of Liferay Portal.
